The Graduate Students Association in Education (GSAE) is the official students’ association which exists to promote and represent the interests of students in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education to the UCSB campus community on administrative, academic, and student affairs.
GSAE represents students in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, including the Teacher Education Program, Department of Education, and Department of Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychology. As a body of student representatives, the GSAE consists of elected officers as well as the general student population. Decisions are made by consensus, with all members having a voice in decision making. The purpose of the association is to promote student participation in a manner that is rewarding, challenging, and supportive.
The GSAE is Here to:
Help students successfully navigate their graduate school experience.
Provide mentorship and relay campus information to new and continuing students.
Organize and sponsor numerous events including the Fall Orientation and Spring Graduation Reception, as well as colloquia on topics of interest to graduate students throughout the year.
Hold regular meetings to discuss issues that are relevant to the students in Gevirtz School.
The GSAE Executive Council meets bi-monthly to hold one closed planning session and one open session meeting. Every graduate student in the Gevirtz School is invited to participate in the open session association meetings on the first Wednesday of the month.
